Michael Terry Bareback Horse Down Face Painting

Saturday was the busiest day of Rendezvous so far. The crowds at events and on the streets were much larger than Thursday or Friday. The museum had a full schedule of events featuring some of the same presenters from Friday including Michael Terry Plains Indian discussions, Dr. Gage Skinner’s discussion of artifacts from the fur trade era, and the American Mountain Men.

After riding his war horse in the parade, Michael Terry provided one of the high points by bringing his horse for the afternoon discussion. That is always an audience favorite and it was standing room only for the full two hours.

New on Saturday were two discussions by Doug Erickson, from Lewis and Clark College, about Lewis and Clark and the impact of their transcontinental trip on the fur trade that followed. This discussion, joined occasionally by Fred Gowans, was also standing room only.

The evening was capped off by the final day of the Rendezvous Rodeo. The crowds were much larger than the previous two days and much larger than expected. Most late arrivals found themselves waiting in a line of cars for 20-30 minutes. A couple pastures adjacent to the Rodeo grounds had to used for over flow parking. The cowboys and cowgirls put on a great show.
