What People Love About Pinedale

Here are some of the comments that have come in about why people like Pinedale. Thank you for writing! We love to hear from you!

"From May 2002 to May 2003, I worked a schedule that required me to reside in Pinedale for 14 day periods at a time. >From day one, I realized that your little town was a little piece of heaven on Earth. Driving into town that first day, my first reaction was how beautiful the scenery was and how unique the shops along the main street were. My next positive experience was walking the streets and getting the friendly nods, hellos, howdy's, etc. from the local townsfolk. I felt welcomed immediately. During my days in Pinedale, I resided at the Lodge at Pinedale which at that time was the Motel 8. The young staff there always treated me like family. I found the youth of the town to be especially respectful... a compliment to good parenting, schools, and religious organizations. I even got a few chances to watch the Wrangler football team play some hard fought games (e.g. Big Piney). My family and I are planning on vacationing in Pinedale this December, taking in some snowmobiling and skiing at White Pine, and perhaps getting a good steak at the Half Moon restaurant. I look forward to visiting again. Best Regards from an honorary Wyoming Cowboy from Cajun country!" -Louisiana

"What do I love about Pinedale? What do I love about Heaven? That's about how much I love Pinedale. I named my property in Folsom, LA after your town. I've been there many times and have never gotten bored. Keep up the good work and the website."

"We lived in Pinedale for a year in 1992-1993. I found it to be the most amazing place on earth. We still think of our time there and would come back if we could. I found it like stepping back in time to a simpler time, where people and community still connected. There was not the distraction that you have elsewhere so people reached out to one another. Every day was like waking up to a new scene, as the weather changed the scenery with the passing clouds and light, it was truly breath taking to stand in the meadow and look up at Gannet Peak.

When we gathered cattle on the Upper Green and trailed them up Pinion Ridge, the first time, when I looked back down, to the top of Square Top, back over my shoulder towards Pinedale, I was taken by the incredible beauty, the vast scenery, big country. I loved it! Having grown up on a cattle ranch in Eastern Oregon, Pinedale was perfect for me, where cowboys still did things the old way and life was about cows and good horses. I enjoyed our year there, miss it terrible, hope to come back if we ever can, still write about it and tell people of our life in a quiet, beautiful little town called Pinedale."

"My husband and I own a home in the Upper Green near the national forest entrance. Daily, I click on your site to check the weather, local happenings, etc. I feel as if I am home in Wyoming when I see the events and long for being there when it's snowing (we're from Georgetown, Texas) or the leaves are changing and the temp is cool. It's almost November and we are still in the high 80's with heavy humidity!! Pinedale is such a friendly town filled with people who care. As soon as I retire from teaching, I hope to spend many more days in the area to see the leaves change, the first snowfall and become more active in the community. The webcams are wonderful but I wish you would put one at The Place and point it toward the valley so we could see the weather conditions and the beauty of that area daily. Maybe that is being a little selfish, but that area is so beautiful and draws "WOW" when we bring in friends and family. Thanks you for the wonderful job ya'll do and knowing it helps us, in far away locations, feel like we go to Wyoming daily. Keep up the good work!!"

"I am in Wichita Falls, Texas. I have never been to Pinedale but I am hooked on you guys weather and scenery. I even read the thursday edition of the Examiner. Maybe one day I can bring the fam up and stay awhile. In the meantime I will keep tabs on the ski resort cams. Keep tellin the stories, I enjoy reading them. " -Texas

"Pinedale is not home to me. But, because I have visited, lodged, and camped there so many times, it is now a part of me. The way of life, wide open spaces and big sky always tug at my heart when I am away. The view of the Winds, the view of the Wyomings, the smell of the Green, are all wonderful blessings from God. The history of the frontiersmen and the families that toughed out their lives there is always more than intriguing to me. Everything in Pinedale seems to tell a story, even the relentless winds. I could make a list that goes on and on about all the unique things and places that make Pinedale special. It seems inept to say that Pinedale is simply just a map dot that when looked upon closely, tugs at my heart. The folks in Pinedale are undoubtedly of true grit but they have always been generous and gracious and have shown hospitality in sharing their town and wonderful resources with me and my family. Thanks Pinedale for many happy memories. I hope to return soon." -Louisiana

"Been traveling to Wyoming for 12 years on hunting and camping trips and spent a week of my honeymoon in Pinedale last year. Loved it, loved it and loved it!! I chose Pinedale to get away from the Jackson Hole area and try and find a town where real cowboys still work. Boy did I hit the jackpot!! The friendly folks, the real cowboy life, the weather,...I could go on and on. I grew up in a small Pennsylvania country town and Pinedale reminds of those days when my old town was a lot smaller. Been reading your online newspaper ever since. The stories and photos are fantastic. They give someone like me a small taste of what I miss every day. Hope to move there some day and join your family. Especially enjoyed breakfast every morning at The Stockman. Your constant attention to the cowboy life is just awesome. More pictures, more stories, maybe a whole section totally devoted to cowboy life with roundup pictures, interviews, boots, hats and saddles! Keep up the great website!"

"Even though I visit only in the summer, I figured I'd send this anyway. I like Pinedale because the people are genuine (and really nice) and the scenery is absolutely gorgeous. On a frivolous note, I like Pinedale because there's no humidity! (where I live, it's 80% humidity almost all summer)." -Virginia

"I read some of the emails already sent to you and they about cover the subject. All I can add is that, for me, the Pinedale area is right near the center of God's country! Saying much else just doesn't do this subject justice. For those who have never been to this area, you'll find this web-site offers wonderful pictures and stories. And the web-cams are great, too. Thanks to you wonderful people at Pinedaleonline.com for allowing others in faraway places less favored by the good Lord to enjoy your community. I especially enjoy reading the continuing saga of Cowgirl Cris, whenever she has enough time to sit down and recount her day's work. She writes of her work on the ranch is such a way that I am plain tuckered out after reading of her day. I then have to sit down, smoke a cigar and have a cold beer. Someone up that way needs to drop by and give her a hand on the ranch so she'll have more time to write. My best to the folks of the Pinedale area." -Florida
