Snow finally returns to Wyoming
Pinedale gets 2-3 inches of new snow Sunday night
February 7, 2005
A small storm system brought 2-3 inches of much-needed new snow to the valleys of the Upper Green River Valley Sunday night. The National Weather Service in Riverton issued a Snow Advisory for Sunday night through early Monday morning. Snow flurries are expected to continue in Wyoming through Monday. The Big Piney area picked up 2 inches of new snow overnight.
White Pine Ski Resort picked up 3 inches of new snow overnight, bringing their base depth total back to 60 inches. They are still 100 percent fully operational with all 25 runs and both lifts open 7 days a week. Next weekend White Pine hosts a high school alpine ski race meet.
The rest of this week calls for partly sunny skies with daytime temperatures in the 30s. Snowfall is forecast to return next weekend, great news for skiers and snowmobilers.
While the mountains of Montana and Idaho are looking very bleak for snowpack, and many ski areas have either closed or are running on reduced operations, Wyoming is still looking pretty good. February and March typically bring a series of storms with fresh snow for us here in Wyoming, so the best may still be yet to come for those who enjoy playing in the snow.
