A highway overlay and bridge rehabilitation project is expected to begin next week south of Big Piney on Highway 189, according to the Wyoming Department of Transportation.
Subcontractor V Corporation of Riverton plans to get started next week on the bridge over the south fork of the Piney Creek. This rehabilitation involves removing the existing pavement and curbs. New curbs will be installed as well as new bridge rail and guardrail. During the bridge work, traffic will be down to one lane of travel with alternating one-way traffic. Traffic will be controlled by a flagger 24-hours a day. The subcontractor is expecting to have the bridge work completed in late March.
The leveling and overlay project starts at the southern end of the Big Piney town limits and travels about eight miles to the Dry Basin Draw or Dry Piney Creek. The leveling and overlay project is scheduled to be done in May.
The public can anticipate 15 to 20 minute delays during the project with alternating one-way traffic. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and a pilot car.
Mountain Construction, Inc., of Lovell is the prime contractor of the $1.4 million project.
