PMS Musicians attend District Interschool Clinic

On Saturday, March 19, twenty two Pinedale middle school musicians traveled to Lyman to perform in the Wyoming Southwest District Middle School Interschool Music Clinic. They were selected from nine school music programs in the area by the recommendations of their school band directors and choir directors. After practicing together all day they performed a concert for the public in the Lyman High School Auditorium.
The director of the 87 member honor band was John Morrison. Mr. Morrison is a band director in Rock Springs. His instrumental duties their includes teaching all Rock Springs French Horn and Trumpet players grades 6-12, directing a very large beginning band and leading the Rock Springs High School Pep Band. He also has had seven songs for concert band published of which one of these songs the District Honor Band played this weekend.
Sarah Wessel was the director of the 86 voice honor choir this spring. Ms. Wessel teaches elementary music in Rock Springs where she has taught for the last 28 years. She taught in Oregon and Washington for five years before moving to Wyoming. She has also been an All State and All Northwest Music Clinician. Middle schools participating were Evanston Davis, Evanston Middle, Lyman, Mt. View, Kemmerer, Cokeville, Afton, Big Piney and Pinedale.
Students in the honor choir from Pinedale were: Ashlee Anderson, Courtney Bryars, Sierra Cunningham, Brindi McGinnis, Ezra Brown, Tyler Cloyd, Lizzy Cooney, Chevy Metzer, Michael Payne, and Mariah Smith. The Pinedale students in the honor band were Anna Harrower, Morgan Holz, Kelsi Dean, Kassey Braun, Tracey McCarty, Kristin Corwin, Shanna Corwin, Amy David, Matt Boyce, Max Burns, Casey Terrell, and Bernadette Nelson. These students are under the direction of Gena Anderson – choir and R. Craig Sheppard – Band.
