Schmidt steps down as Undersheriff
Sheriff Ruland to retire June 30th
March 17, 2005
Sublette County Undersheriff Henry Schmidt has stepped down from his position with the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) effective March 16th, according to a news release from the SCSO. He has served as Undersheriff for ten years.
The Undersheriff’s position is known as the ‘operation’ head of the office, and serves as second in command under the Sheriff and acting Sheriff in the absence of the Sheriff.
Sheriff Hank Ruland appointed Wayne 'Bardy' Bardin Undersheriff to replace Schmidt. Bardin has been with the SCSO for 14 years, starting in the jail and working his way up through the ranks. According to Sheriff Ruland, "He is a very capable leader and has attended the necessary schools addressing management, labor laws, supervision and all facets of Sheriff’s office management."
Sheriff Ruland is also retiring on June 30th. He will be turning most of the day to day operations over to Bardy.
Ruland added about Henry Schmidt, "there are few law enforcement officers that have ever served with the commitment, dedication and loyalty that Henry Schmidt possesses. He is truly a remarkable man and has ‘aimed’ this Sheriff’s office in the right direction for the past several years. I could not have done the job of Sheriff without Henry’s capable and steady hand helping."
