Over 400 non-resident mule deer licenses were mistakenly issued by the Wyoming Game & Fish Department during last fall’s hunting season for two western Wyoming mule deer herds. The excess mule deer licenses were for Region G of the Wyoming Range and Region H of the Sublette mule deer herd. The mistake was apparently discovered following a review of the 2004 mule harvest survey. Officials are not sure how many of those 400 additional hunters were successful in harvesting deer from either of those herds. The Department has made changes to prevent a repeat of last year’s error.
