Spring storm goes easy on Pinedale
Mountains get 7-10 inches of new snow
April 20, 2005
A spring storm passed through western Wyoming Monday and Tuesday dropping much-needed moisture to the state. Pinedale and Big Piney areas didn’t see the several inches of snow that were predicted, but there were times when intense snowfall created blizzard-like conditions briefly. An occasional clap of thunder could be heard during the snow squalls, very typical in our spring storms. What did fall on the valley floor around the towns melted fairly quickly and we're back to bare ground and roads. The surrounding mountains got 7-10 inches of new snow, according to reporting stations.
Snow showers are expected to continue over the next several days, with locally heavy snow at times. Another 4-8 inches of snow is possible in the mountains. Highway passes will likely be snowpacked and slippery while lower elevation roads may be slushy in the morning. Travelers should monitor road conditions for the latest information and advisories.
