Boat owners urged to register boats now
May 9, 2005
Both new boat owners and renewals are encouraged to register now to avoid the annual rush of registrations immediately before Memorial Day, says Chantal Couture, who oversees boat registrations for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. "Every year there are some boaters who aren’t able to get on the water for Memorial Day because they didn’t get their registration returned in time," Couture said.
She alerts boaters needing to renew their registration, that they can do that by visiting a G&F regional office in Jackson, Pinedale, Cody, Sheridan, Green River, Laramie, Lander and Casper, in addition to Cheyenne. She reminds new boat owners to submit a notarized bill of sale or dealer’s invoice and proof of Wyoming sales tax payment with their watercraft application. All new boat registrations must be submitted to the G&F’s Cheyenne Office.
Couture encourages boaters to take advantage of the three-year registration for $40. An annual registration is $15. Forms are available from G&F offices, license agents and on the "fishing page" of the G&F website at http://gf.state.wy.us. In Wyoming, any boat equipped with any size motor – electric or internal combustion -- must be registered.
