Fishing Hatch Report – July 4th
by Fishing Guide John Ross
July 5, 2005
The fishing hatch report is courtesy of professional fishing guide, John Ross, of Two Rivers Emporium Orvis Fly Shop in Pinedale.
Green & New Fork Rivers: The Green and New Fork Rivers are both starting to fish great. The water is still high, but the fish are looking up, and we have some great hatches going on.
Gray Drakes and PMD’s are our mayfly hatches and there are plenty of Caddis. Golden Stones, Yellow Sallies and the giant Salmon Flies are hatching as well.
The dry fly fishing is getting better with each day and should be good all summer with the amount of snow still left in the hills.
Area Lakes: All the area lakes are doing great. Boulder Lake has been fantastic this summer with lots of nice rainbows and macks being taken on streamer patterns.
Dollar Lake is another great place to fish. There are nice rainbows feeding on the surface every evening. Caddis are hatching in clouds on the upper Green around Dollar.
