Haying season is here=Rain forecast
More thunderstorms on the way
August 2, 2005
Haying season is in full swing in our Upper Green River Valley, which also usually means the rains will start.
True to tradition, a cold front brought numerous thunderstorms throughout the day on Monday. Very active lightning with heavy rain continued through Monday night creating a spectacular show. The weather outlook doesn’t look much better for the rest of the week for ranchers trying to get haying done.
Severe thunderstorms with hail and wind are possible again on Tuesday with more thunderstorms predicted for the rest of the week through Sunday, usually building up around noon. Very heavy rain and some hail may be associated with these storms. Localized flooding and ponding on roads can be expected with heavy downburst rains.
Daytime temperatures will be in the 70s through this week until the weekend, which is expected to warm up into the 80s with more sunshine Saturday and Sunday. Anyone out recreating in the backcountry is advised to bring clothing to layer for a variety of weather conditions, from warm to wet & cold.
