Fall Burning Smoke column from prescribed burning on Fremont Ridge near Soda and Fremont Lakes, northeast of Pinedale.

Smoke visible from Pinedale Wednesday, and in the Pinedale webcam, was due to a planned fall burn. With cooler temperatures and lower wildfire danger, forest and wildlife resource managers use fire as a management tool to improve habitat forage conditions and reduce fuels for wildfires. Prescribed burns are lit when weather conditions are favorable and smoke may be visible near Pinedale and in the Wyoming Range.
