ASU Year-Round Drilling EIS
Public comment accepted until Nov. 19
October 19, 2005
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in Pinedale is preparing a Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) for the Pinedale Anticline Year-Round Access Project. As part of the SEIS, the BLM seeks public comment on the Pinedale Anticline year-round access project.
The 30-day public comment period begins on October 20, 2005; and concludes at the close of business Monday, November 19, 2005.
To provide the public with an opportunity to review the proposal and project information, the BLM will host a meeting that will be held in Pinedale, Wyoming on Nov. 8, 2005 at the Sublette Co. Library in Pinedale with a presentation beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The purpose of the natural gas development is to extract and recover natural gas from the Pinedale Anticline Project Area by allowing Anschutz, Shell, Ultra, and other lease holders to provide more natural gas for distribution to its consumers. This would make additional supplies of clean-burning natural gas available to consumers. The SEIS will address cumulative impacts and will include consideration of the effects of the project. Potential issues to be addressed in the SEIS include but are not limited to: surface and ground water resources, air quality, wildlife populations and their habitats, road development and transportation, reclamation, noxious weed control, reclamation, conflicts with livestock grazing operations, protection of potential cultural and pale ontological resources, threatened and endangered wildlife and plant species, and socioeconomic impacts.
Written comments or resource information requests, should be submitted to the Bureau of Land Management, Pinedale Field Office, Matt Anderson, Project Manager, P.O. Box 768, Pinedale, Wyoming 82941. Electronic mail may be sent to: WYMail_PAPA_YRA@blm.gov.
