Snow and winter weather is on the way, according to forecasts from the National Weather Service out of Riverton. Western and central Wyoming can expect snow to be widespread Friday evening and into the weekend. One to two inches is possible in the valleys, with the mountains picking up 2-5 inches by Saturday morning.

Breezy conditions will result in some blowing and drifting snow in open areas, creating traffic difficulties and limited visibility at times. Persons traveling across Wyoming should be prepared for slippery driving conditions over the weekend.

A series of weather systems is expected to continue to push through the area into next week. Each storm has the potential to bring a half a foot of snowfall to the mountains and up to 3 inches in the valleys.
