Update: Wednesday, January 11, 2006, 3:46 PM: The Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 10 pm Wednesday evening. Snow is still forecast to increase Wednesday evening with some snowfall rates exceeding an inch an hour. Total snowfall amounts will range from 4-6 inches in the Pinedale area to 6-10 inches towards Bondurant. Areas of west winds at 15-25 mph will cause drifting and blowing snow, as well as limited visibility in open areas. Allow extra time to reach your destination if traveling.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Riverton has issued another Winter Storm Warning for western Wyoming for Tuesday night through 10 pm Wednesday evening, January 10-11. A major winter storm with moist westerly flow will bring heavy snow to the area. Wind gusts from 40-60 mph are possible, causing blowing and drifting snow, especially over mountain passes. The warning is for the Upper Green River Basin foothills, including Pinedale.

Snowfall intensity is expected to increase around daybreak on Wednesday morning with moderate to heavy snow at times. Snow will taper off by late Wednesday evening. The Pinedale area could see 6 inches of new snow. Bondurant could get up to a foot. The mountains of western Wyoming could see 12-22 inches of new snow.

"This pattern is expected to bring heavy snow to western Wyoming along with strong ridge top winds creating treacherous or impossible travel conditions over mountain passes," said the NWS.
