Housing Conference March 16
Workforce/affordable housing in Sublette County
February 28, 2006

The Town of Pinedale is sponsoring a Sublette County Housing conference on Thursday, March 16th at the Sublette County Library.

Open to all, the conference is intended to be a primer for workforce/affordable housing to give Sublette County residents a chance to learn and decide what course of action, if any, they wish to undertake for the future.

“Even before the gas boom, Sublette County experienced population increases related to amenity-led development in the area. While the majority of the current gas field-related migration has thus far maintained permanent residence elsewhere, these non-residents have placed additional strain on housing in Sublette County” states the flyer for the conference. Also, in the tradition of wanting our young people to stay in Wyoming, concerns are growing that they will not be able to afford to live in the communities in which they have been raised.

A variety of presenters will be on hand for the all-day conference from housing authorities, community assistance organizations, private developers, government, community services, community advocates and other related topics.

Speakers include:
Cheryl Gillum and Gayle Brownlee from the Wyoming Community Development Authority
Connie Baker Wolfe and Greg Hancock from the Rural Community Assistance Corporation
Anne Hayden Cresswell from the Jackson Hole Community Housing Trust
Gerry Bolger from the Evanston Housing Network
Jeffrey Jacquet Socioeconomic Analyst for Sublette County for the Pinedale Anticline Working Group
Gerry Bolger, Evanston Housing Network
Carma Harston, Council of Community Services in Gillette
Sandra Holst, St. John’s Medical Center Employee Housing in Jackson
Kevin Keller, IGC Management Inc.
Roger Bower, Wyoming Business Council

Topics will include a summary of local housing, affordable housing models and funding sources, senior housing and assisted living, transitional housing, single and multi-family housing, employer housing for workforce, housing authorities and community land trusts, and much more.

Facilitator will be George Gault, President of the Wyoming Community Foundation. The conference is being funded by the Wyoming Community Foundation and Questar.
