2nd Annual Ski & Snowboard Race at White Pine
February 5, 2006

The 2nd annual Sonny Korfanta Giant Slalom Ski and Snowboard Race was held at White Pined Ski Area on Saturday, February 4th. The race was sponsored by the Sublette County Ski and Snowboard Club.

The event was open to kids grades Kindergarten to 12th. Approximately 40 kids raced in the event. There was also an adult “Oldies But Goodies” category. Times to run the course varied from a little over 33 seconds for the fastest skier to around 2-1/2 minutes for the youngest racers in the Kindergarten to Grade 2 classes. Below are the placements in the various categories.

Tate Johnson Tate Johnson, #14, got 1st place in the 1K-2M class.	Sonny Korfanta The race is named in honor of local legend, Sonny Korfanta, who started White Pine ski area in the early 1940s.	Tyler Moritsch Tyler Moritsch, #15, placed 4th in the 1K-2M class.
