Big Piney Middle School fake fundraiser
March 29, 2006
The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) and Sheriff Wayne "Bardy" Bardin, have sent out an alert to Sublette County citizens of a recent phone scam targeting the Big Piney area.
On or around Tuesday, March 28, numerous telephone calls were received by local businesses from a company in Fort Worth, Texas, named Scoreboard, or possibly Fanfare, seeking solicitations for donations and advertising space on sports merchandise. The pitch was this was part of a fundraiser for the Big Piney Middle School.
The SCSO has determined that the Big Piney Middle School does not sanction this type of fundraiser.
The Sheriff’s Office reminds citizens not to provide their credit card number over the phone to any type of unknown solicitor. Be especially wary if the product, service or solicitor is suspicious in any way. They ask people to report any suspicious activity or calls to the Sheriff’s Office right away.
