Pinedale Boys defeat Torrington 47-46, move up
State Basketball Championships, next game Friday, March 10, 6 pm
March 9, 2006
In a nail-biter of a game, Pinedale Boys defeated Torrington 47-46 on Thursday to move up in the state championship games this weekend in Casper. The game was broadcast live on KPIN 101.1 FM radio with retired coach Gene Andrews doing the play by play.
The game went back and forth between the two teams, ending in a tie at the end of the third quarter 31-31 and ultimately ending in another tie, 37-37, at the end of the 4th quarter. The game went into overtime.
With 11 seconds left to play, the score was 46 Torrington, Pinedale 44. With 2.8 seconds on the clock, Pinedale had the ball and Jason Vickrey shot a three-point attempt. He was off-balance, shooting from a 45-degree angle from the floor... (everyone in Pinedale is glued to the radio holding their breath….people waiting to shop at Faler’s stay in their cars in the parking lot and lean towards their radios to hear the final word about the throw from Gene...)... "AND IT WENT IN!!! Pinedale wins 47-46!!"
With this win, Pinedale moves up and will play Buffalo tomorrow night, Friday, March 10 in Casper. Game time is 6 pm. KPIN will air all the Pinedale games live through the weekend with Gene Andrews announcing.
