Rig Hand killed in Jonah Field
Fork lift accident causes head injuries

According to a news release by the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office, a Rawlins, Wyoming, man was killed on Wednesday, April 26, as the result of a fork lift accident on a rig site in the Jonah Field south of Pinedale.
Pete N. Mascarenas, 52, was believed to be attempting to adjust a fork on a fork lift when it disengaged, striking him in the side of the head. Pinedale Emergency Medical Services and Boulder Fire were dispatched to the scene by the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident occurred on the site of Pioneer Rig 41 in the Jonah Field. Field crews on the scene were administering CPR at the time EMS crews arrived. Mascarenas was pronounced dead at the scene of the well site. Pioneer Rig 41 was drilling for EnCana Oil and Gas.
