June 19, 2006
The Big Piney Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest will hold a project update meeting on the proposal by Plains Exploration & Production Company (PXP) to conduct exploratory drilling for oil and gas resources on National Forest lands in the Hoback River area of the northern Wyoming Range.
The proposed project is located about seven miles southeast of Bondurant and west of the Hoback Ranches Subdivision.
Forest Service and PXP representatives will be available at the meeting to explain the current status of the project and answer questions. The morning meeting will be at the Sublette County Library in Pinedale from 10 am to noon on Thursday.
An optional afternoon field trip will follow the morning meeting. The field trip will provide an overview of the area where drilling is planned. Field trip participants should wear sturdy shoes and need to provide their own 4-wheel drive transportation, snacks and water. The field trip is expected to be done and return to Pinedale by 4 pm.
