ExxonMobil makes over $10 billion
Near-record profits for energy company

In an online article on CNNMoney.com today, July 27, it was reported that ExxonMobil posted a near-record profit in the second quarter. The company reported a profit of $10.36 billion, $1.72/share, significantly beating estimates that expected their profit to be around $9.92 billion. This was an increase of $2.7 million from the second quarter of 2005.
ExxonMobil Corporation, formerly named Exxon Corporation, deals principally with energy. They are involved in exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas, the manufacture of petroleum products, and the transportation and sale of crude oil, natural gas and petroleum products, among other energy-related interests. ExxonMobil explores for oil and natural gas on six of the seven continents, with business interests in nearly 40 countries. According to their website, they are "the largest nongovernment gas marketer and reserves holder." ExxonMobil Corporation has several divisions and hundreds of affiliates, with between 80,000 to 90,000 employees, according to their stock profile. They are based out of Texas.
ExxonMobil is one of the largest oil and gas producers and reserve holders in the United States. They have activities in Alaska, onshore Gulf Coast, shelf and deep water areas of the Gulf of Mexico, onshore and offshore California, and the mid-continent region. The company operates the Shute Creek Treating facility in LaBarge, Wyoming, south of Big Piney. The company is active in all areas of the natural liquids business from production through processing, transportation, storage, fractionation, refining and chemical feedstocks, and propane marketing.
