Jim Creek Fire burning north of Pinedale
Lightning-caused fire being allowed to burn for resource benefit

(Pinedale) The Jim Fire was detected on Sunday, July 2, 2006 in the Bridger-Wilderness, approximately 24-miles north of Pinedale, Wyoming in the Jim Creek Lake area. This fire is lightning-caused and was approximately 1.0 acre in size when detected.
This fire is being managed to accomplish objectives outlined in the Bridger Wilderness Fire Management Plan and Bridger-Teton National Forest Land & Resource Management Plan, which allow lightning-caused fires to burn within the Forest under strict management conditions and guidelines. Expected benefits from this fire include removal of accumulated ground fuels, improvement of wildlife habitat and fire regime condition class, and maintenance of natural plant succession, all of which are fire-dependant within the Bridger-Teton National Forest.
The Jim Fire will be routinely monitored by air and by ground, and fire management actions will be taken as determined necessary.
There is no area closure associated with the Jim Fire at this time; however, the Jim Creek/Pot Creek areas may be subject to closure at any time depending upon fire behavior. Visitors choosing to enter this area do so at their own risk.

Editor’s Note: This fire is several miles east of the Green River Lakes Road and The Place. Jim Creek road gets low use and the fire is not near any major trails. This fire should not impact anyone visiting the Green River Lakes or New Fork Lakes areas. The Pinedale Ranger District office will start their Saturday hours beginning July 8th. We encourage anyone planning a trip into the wilderness or back country to stop by and get a quick update on current conditions for the area they are planning to visit and any wildfire updates or fire restrictions that may be in effect.
