Local Sage Grouse group to meet Aug. 24
by Wyoming Game & Fish
August 15, 2006

(Pinedale) The Upper Green River basin Local Sage Grouse Working Group will hold their next meeting Thursday, August 24th, 2006, at the Pinedale Library starting at 9:00 am.

One agenda item for the upcoming meeting will be a discussion on a proposed raven research project to determine potential impacts to area sage grouse. The study would be one of several recommendations the group would include in their proposed sage grouse conservation plan for the Upper Green River area. The group plans to have a draft of the plan completed by the end of the year at which time they will hold a public meeting in Pinedale to explain the plan and gather feedback.

The group is one of seven local working groups that were formed across the state to address declining sage grouse populations and hopefully prevent the bird from being listed under the Endangered Species Act.

The group is comprised of nine local citizens, representing groups interested in sage-grouse conservation. The role of the group, is to develop and set in motion local conservation plans to benefit sage grouse and, whenever feasible, other species that use sagebrush habitats.

The public is invited to attend the meeting and a public participation period will be scheduled. The G&F supports the Americans with Disabilities Act. Anyone needing auxiliary aids to attend this meeting should call (800) 423-4113. Every effort will be made for reasonable accommodations.
