Sublette, Sweetwater & Lincoln Counties
by Bureau of Land Management
September 21, 2006
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has lifted all fire restrictions in Sublette, Sweetwater and Lincoln Counties on BLM-administered public lands. Cooler temperatures, higher humidity and recent precipitation are some of the factors in rescinding the partial fire restrictions.
The BLM spoke with the respective county fire wardens and county commissions before making its decision to remove the partial fire restrictions.
As a reminder, the following are year-round wildfire prevention restrictions are in place on all BLM-administered public lands in Wyoming:
• Discharging or using any fireworks. • Discharging a firearm using incendiary or tracer ammunition. • Burning, igniting, or causing to burn any tire, wire, magnesium, or any other hazardous or explosive material. • Operating any off-road vehicle on public lands unless the vehicle is equipped with a properly installed spark arrester.
Though the BLM has lifted these fire restrictions, caution is still advised when camping or any other activity that involves or could involve fire. For more information on fire, call Kyle Cowan, BLM Western Wyoming Zone Fire Management Officer, at 307-352-0217.
