September 26, 2006
Dustin P. Hielscher, age 18, from Big Piney, was killed on Monday, September 18, in a car wreck on Highway 351 east of Marbleton.
According to a Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) news release, Hielscher was driving a pickup westbound on Wyoming 351 a little before 7:50 am when he crossed the centerline and went into the estbound lane of travel while negotiating a right-hand turn approximately nine miles east of Marbleton. Hielscher's vehicle went into the path of a pickup truck driving by Luis Ramirez-Sagastume, age 43, of North Las Vegas, Nevada.
Ramirez attempted to avoid the Hielscher vehicle prior to impact by steering to the left, however the two vehicles hit head-on, right front to right front, in the eastbound lane. After impact, the Hielscher vehicle flipped onto its top and came to rest in the south barrow ditch. The Ramirez vehicle came to rest in the north barrow ditch.
Ramirez was transported by ground ambulance to the Marbleton clinic and then transported by air ambulance to LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. Hielscher died at the scene. Roadways were dry at the time of the crash, according to WHP. Neither man was wearing a seatbelt.
