Governor encourages tech industry research
Tech businesses: fill out online survey

The first-ever comprehensive survey of Wyoming's technology companies, large and small, kicks off this month.
The Wyoming Technology Organization (WTO), a nonprofit organization serving technology businesses and professionals, developed the 2006 Wyoming Technology Industry Survey to gather crucial information for a "State of the Technology Industry" report to the 2007 Wyoming Legislature.
"The tech industry will play a major role in the diversification of Wyoming's economy, so I would encourage all technology companies to participate in this survey," said Gov. Dave Freudenthal. "One of the challenges to growing a strong technology base in Wyoming is the lack of firm information about the companies and their needs."
This survey will help the WTO accomplish its primary mission of facilitating job opportunities in a progressive industry, diversifying the state's economy and providing critical information to the state and its leaders to create policies conducive to technology industry growth and success.
"For the first time, this report aims to answer questions that have cropped up over the last several years about recruiting, retaining and encouraging the technology industry in Wyoming," said Shawn Mills, president of WTO. "The most crucial piece of this report is the private industry survey and each company's response to the survey."
A letter asking for participation recently went out to more than 800 Wyoming technology professionals and companies. The survey is for entrepreneurs and companies with between one and 1,000 employees. To participate in this survey, visit www.wyomingtechnology.org/survey. The response due date is October 7.
