BLM seeks public input on Wildlife Exception
Ultra Resources wants to drill a deep test well on the Mesa
October 17, 2006
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Pinedale Field Office is seeking public comment as part of its analysis of a request from Ultra Resources, Inc. to drill a deep test well from the Mesa 9-33 pad.
Ultra is seeking an exception for wildlife stipulations and in return will not conduct any drilling activity on the 2005-2006 winter pads, Mesa 7-34 or the Mesa 10-35 pads during the 2006-2007 winter restriction dates. No completion activity is currently proposed.
This is a cooperative effort and Shell Rocky Mountain Production has agreed they will not carry out drilling or completion activities on the Mesa 7-29 pad until after the winter restrictions are lifted.
Previous activity in winter 2005-2006 was allowed through the a Finding of No Significant Impact, Decision Record and Environmental Assessment for the ASU Year-Round Drilling Demonstration Project of September 2005. The drilling of the deep test well is in support of the Pinedale SEIS.
The BLM will accept comments until Monday, October 30, 2006. The Pinedale BLM is located at 432 East Mill Street, Pinedale, Box 768, Pinedale, Wyoming, 82941.
