Contrary to news reports, the University of Wyoming is not considering a permanent 6 percent tuition increase.
During Friday's meeting, the UW Board of Trustees and university administration discussed the statistical history of tuition increases. They noted that if all the tuition increases from the past 10 years were averaged, the average annual tuition increase would have been 6 percent. While a single trustee said he could support a 6 percent increase, neither the Board of Trustees nor the UW administration has proposed or considered a specific tuition increase for 2007 or beyond.
