Holiday Gift Buying in Pinedale
We went shopping!
November 18, 2006
The holiday season is upon us. Faler’s has all their Christmas decorations and lights out now, so that signals the official beginning of the season, at least here in Pinedale. There is snow on the ground, which will likely stay now until next spring. White Pine Ski Resort is all set to open on Thanksgiving Day for skiing and snowboarding. All of these things mean… it’s time to shop for Christmas!

Some people think they have to leave town and set aside an all-day trip to drive down to Rock Springs and hit the mall and K-Mart in order to find presents for everyone on their list. We decided to take a run through some of our local stores and see what’s out on the racks and shelves and what kind of variety that is available right here at home.
We found a lot. Our local stores are unique and carry many items with western and wildlife themes. We found things right here at home that are hard to find in the larger chain stores in the big city. If you like western and wildlife themes, you don’t need to leave Pinedale for your holiday shopping.
We also liked that you can easily find clothing on the rack that is perfect for the weather and conditions in Wyoming, durable and warm. Prices were also very reasonable, in our opinion, and shopping was pleasant without huge crowds and long lines. We found a lot of items that also filled out secondary list for “stocking stuffers” to help Santa out on Christmas morning. All in all, we found everything we needed for everyone on our gift list, and saved ourselves the all-day trip on icy roads trying to get to Rock Springs dodging oilfield traffic, burning a tank of gas, and dealing with the crowds at the mall. We join in with the Chamber in saying, “Please shop local!”
Below are three photo tours of stores in Pinedale showing our pick for neat gifts each has to offer. We visited the Cowboy Shop, Spirits of the West, and the Great Outdoor Shop, all located on main street in downtown Pinedale. There are many other wonderful shops in Pinedale, and this sampling is in no way meant to ignore them. We only had so much time to put this story together.
Shoppers will have fun walking down the street and visiting all the unique shops to find their individual flavors for the things they each sell!
The Sublette County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting their annual Christmas Shop at Home special events, called “Mountain Man Christmas” this year, on Saturday, December 9th, when many of the Pinedale businesses will be open late and have in-store specials for holiday shoppers. Pretty much all of the local businesses also offer gift certificates. See our Business Directory on Pinedale Online, and the Sublette County Chamber of Commerce business listings, for contact phone numbers and e-mails.
