The Pinedale Aquatic Center Joint Powers Board held a regular meeting on Wednesday in Pinedale. Construction is continuing and the facility is on track to be completed in mid-July/August, 2007. Ground-breaking was begun in April this year.
The aquatic center is being built by Sublette County School District #1, but it will be managed and operated by the Joint Powers Board, which is composed of members of the community, school, school board and representatives from the county and Town of Pinedale. The Joint Powers Board will lease the center from the school district and pay for all operating costs.
The board anticipates hiring 5-7 full-time employees to help staff this facility when it opens. Those positions are still being defined, but if you are looking for a job here and have pool/aquatic facility-related experience and certifications, watch for these position opening announcements in the next couple of months: Director, Recreation Coordinator, Facility Maintenance/Operations Supervisor, Aquatic Coordinator, Office Manager. There will also be additional positions for lifeguards and custodians. No word yet on salary rates or any arrangements for housing for these employees.
The complex will have a competitive swimming pool, a leisure pool, a current channel, a 3-story climbing wall, a running/walking track, two racquetball courts, and a gymnasium with a sports court floor that can be used for activities such as in-line hockey, indoor soccer and dance. There will also be additional rooms for classes and parties and for a daycare for adults who want to leave their children while they work out.
