Eve Faler Stevens turns 102

Family and friends held a special party at the Sublette Center on Wednesday for Eve Faler Stevens, for her 102nd birthday.
Eve was born in South Pass City in 1904, the same year that the town of Pinedale was started. She moved to Pinedale as a little girl. Her father, Ralph Faler, was born in Bondurant, where her grandparents filed on a homestead. He got a job freighting between Rock Springs and Pinedale.
Eve wrote a narrative which is on the back cover of the Pinedale, Wyoming Centennial History book which was published last year by the Museum of the Mountain Man and written by Ann Chambers Noble. In it, she describes how her grandparents came out west in a wagon in the late 1800s and spent their first winter in an abandoned trapper’s cabin on Pole Creek south of Pinedale. She describes living in early Pinedale when there were only a few log buildings near Pine Creek, and a time when people worked all the time because they had to in order to survive.
"I’ve always loved Pinedale," she said.
