The National Weather Service (NWS) advises that very cold temperatures are expected once again Wednesday night in the western valleys of Wyoming during the morning hours. Temperatures will range from 10 below to 20 below zero, with the thermometer plunging to as cold as 25 below in Upper Green River Basin (that’s us) and Yellowstone National Park.
While no significant hazardous weather is expected to occur in our corner of Wyoming, southeast Wyoming will experience a major winter storm. The NWS is cautioning that travel on Interstate 25 South of Casper may become quite difficult later today (Wednesday). Travel on Interstate 80 East of Sweetwater County may also become quite hazardous this afternoon and tonight. Check the latest road and Weather reports before traveling into Southeast Wyoming.
Extended Outlook: There is a chance of snow in the western Wyoming mountains Thursday night and Friday. Expect another chance of snow for the western mountains on Saturday night into Sunday, Christmas Eve. These weather systems do not look strong at this time, says the NWS, so snow accumulations will remain on the light side. Christmas Day is predicted to be dry with seasonal temperatures.
