Wyoming Poet Laureate David Romtvedt, associate professor in the University of Wyoming Department of English, will select works by Wyoming writers for an anthology expanding on themes related to the Smithsonian's "Between Fences" exhibition.
Wyoming writers are invited to submit their poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction by Feb. 10, to the anthology sponsored by the Wyoming Humanities Council (WHC) and the Wyoming Arts Council. For complete submission guidelines, visit www.betweenfenceswyoming.net, or e-mail Victoria Sherry at vfsherry@uwyo.edu.
The "Between Fences" exhibition is scheduled to tour Wyoming this year. For the related anthology, writers are encouraged to consider fences in their visible forms on the landscape, along with the invisible fences -- such as race, religion and economic status -- that may separate humanity.
"We hope the anthology will represent the work of established writers along with the perspectives of ordinary people who are inspired to reflect on the experience of living 'between fences' in Wyoming," says Kathleen Urban, WHC board president.
