High winds hit western Wyoming
February 16, 2007
A strong surface-based low pressure center over the Northern Plains, and a surface high pressure center over the Western Great Basin, are combining to produce a strong surface pressure gradient over Western and Central Wyoming Friday. That is resulting in strong winds of 40-50 miles per hour (mph), with gusts as high as 75 mph in places across Wyoming. This is a view from the Bondurant webcam on Friday morning, a reminder of how Wyoming's winters can be harsh and unforgiving if you have to be out in it, and beautiful if you can watch from the comfort and warmth of indoors.
