Pollution from the Jim Bridger Power Plant can be reduced
by Tom Bell, Wyoming Outdoor Council (Letter to the Editor)
March 10, 2007

On February 21, 2007, Pinedale Online reprinted a news release by PacifiCorp in response to a suit filed against the company by the Sierra Club and Wyoming Outdoor Council alleging opacity violations from 2001 to 2006 at PacifiCorp’s Jim Bridger power plant near Rock Springs, Wyoming. In that news release, PacifiCorp claimed the suit had no merit and there was no risk to the health and welfare of the citizens of Wyoming.

We received a Letter to the Editor from Tom Bell of the Wyoming Outdoor Council which refutes PacifiCorps’s claims. The Wyoming Outdoor Council states that monitoring data PacifiCorp has submitted to the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality which shows that emissions from the Jim Bridger power plant has exceeded permit limits for opacity thousands of times in the last five years.
