Moon Rise over Mt Bonneville Full Moon

Night skies in Wyoming Dave Bell captured the full moon rising over Mt Bonneville in the Wind River Mountains. A total eclipse of the moon occurred for most of Europe, Africa and parts of North America on Saturday night. For us, the moon appeared only slightly tinted at moonrise as it emerged. March is a great month to watch our wonderful Wyoming night skies. There will be great views of the Milky Way stretching from the southern horizon to nearly overhead, and onward north. Venus is the bright evening ‘star’ in the west and Saturn can also be seen. Jupiter rises at about 1:00 am above the western horizon. The first day of spring is officially March 21 this year, according to the calendar, however we won’t see believable lasting signs of it for many more weeks.
