Rodent poison found in tainted pet food
Only 'Cuts and Gravy' pet food affected

Reports were released today attributing the cause of the pet food recall is due to rodent poison. Pet food manufacturer Menu Foods, issued a recall of 60 million cans and pouches of dog and cat pet food after numerous animals became sickened. Some animals have also died.
Menu Foods dog and cat foods are sold under nearly 100 different brand names across the United States. Only "cuts and gravy" style dog and cat food are affected. Dry pet food is not involved.
The company said they would reimburse pet owners who can trace their pet’s illness to the company’s pet food.
ABC News reported on Friday that Menu Foods bought wheat gluten, the only ingredient changed in its plants, from China. “That possibility raises questions about the safety of pet and other food products in the United States,” ABC said in an article on their website (see related link below.)
According to a online story by the Casper Star-Tribune on Friday, “The deaths led to a recall of 60 million cans and pouches of pet food produced by Menu Foods and sold throughout North America under 95 brand names. There have been reports of kidney failure, some fatal, in pets that ate the recalled brands. The company has confirmed the deaths of 15 cats and one dog.” (See related link below.)
