(Rock Springs) -The prime contractor for the Rock Springs Marginal, Pilot Butte/Dewar Drive sections is moving forward with the reconstruction project on Interstate 80.
Along the Pilot Butte interchange area, work is in progress on preparing the landscape for restructuring of the interchange. Work will continue in this area with flaggers and appropriate traffic control measures in place. Minor delays should be expected.
At intermittent locations between the Pilot Butte construction area and the Dewar Drive exit, the passing lanes of both the westbound and eastbound lanes of the interstate between will be closed to traffic during daylight hours so the contractor can continue working on the crossover sections. The driving lanes on both the westbound and eastbound lanes will remain open, but motorists can expect reduced speed limits and delays throughout the project.
On the morning of March 25 at 7:30, one lane on the eastbound segment will close and crews will begin setting up a crane for the removal of the overhead sign structure at Exit 102, Dewar Drive. At 10 a.m., the Wyoming Highway Patrol will assist the crews with closures of the eastbound lanes, as well as the eastbound off-ramp for Dewar Drive.
Once the sign is swung out of the way of traffic, the lanes will reopen. The closure is expected to last 10-15 minutes. The westbound lanes will not be affected during this project.
The Wyoming Department of Transportation reminds motorist to slow down and be alert while driving through the construction area.
