April 30, 2007

Jason and Alan checked out the Boulder Lake area on Saturday, April 28th and stopped by to tell us what they found. Well, actually they went to check out Meadow Lake, but discoverd the road was chained closed and a sign that says the road is closed until April 30th. They were two days too early to get into Meadow Lake. So they checked out Boulder Lake area instead, the campground, creek and over to Stokes Crossing.

The roads are dry all the way in and access is no problem. People were out on the lake boating and fishing on Saturday, enjoying the sunshine and beautiful weather. All the ice is off the lake.

The water is high on the inlet side of the lake, but still running clear. Fishing in the lake and in the creek below the outlet appears good. Spring runoff hasn't started yet to muddy the waters.

The campground is open and the road and camp spots are dry. Still no leaves on any of the shrubs yet, but there is green grass in the campground. Bugs still aren't out, making this a great time for an early hike. There is just a little bit of snow in the campground and boat launch area, but it will all be gone very soon.

Someone has been out shooting many of the signs in the area, doing considerable damage to them.

Lots of wildlife around. Tons of antelope, but they didn't see any babies yet. Some desert wildflowers are starting to bloom. And ticks are out.
