The Sage & Snow Garden Club and the Sublette County Conservation District have teamed up to put their gardening booklet online and available for download as a printable PDF.
The 21-page booklet, entitled, “Garden Flora of the Pinedale Area”, was compiled by members of the Club, with the help of Nancy Miller and Ann Stevens. It includes information on perennials, annuals, bulbs, tubers, corms, shrubs and trees, vegetables and fruits. It gives information on where to plant, when flowers bloom, soil type, drought tolerance. The booklet also gives some helpful suggestions for selecting plants for the Pinedale area.
With our 60-day growing season, plants need to be selected carefully, but most annuals will grow here. You’ll have better luck if you pick plants that are hardy and not as susceptible to frost damage, says the Sage & Snow Garden Club. For late maturing varieties, it’s best to start with bedding plants rather than from seed. If you’re ordering from a seed catalog, select plants from Zone 3.
To find the booklet, go to the Sublette County Conservation District website, www.sublettecountycd.com, and click on “Programs” on their menu list.
