Monday night, the Health Care Coalition met at the Sublette County Library at 7 PM, and the highlight of the meeting was the introduction of Kip Boone to the organization.
Early in the meeting, Kip Boone stated that all Sublette County physicians have now been offered a contract, and this includes Dr. Burnett of Big Piney. It is not known at this time if Dr. Burnett will accept the contract and discontinue his private practice, or simply continue in his current private practice.
Upon his arrival in Sublette County, Kip Boone quickly found there was no shortage of situations demanding his attention. "Everywhere I turn, there’s something to do", he remarked to the group.
Boone was surprised to learn that no financial statements or cash flow statements were being prepared, and he stated that within two or three months these statements will start to be prepared.
Wil Gay asked if the EMTs and ambulance service was something that the Health Care Coalition was involved in, and he was assured they were. He pointed out that Sublette County is down eight to ten medics at the moment, and is operating with a bare-bones minimal staff. He explained that the high price of housing, or lack of housing, is the number one reason why they are not able to hire additional EMTs.
The Health Care Coalition, along with the Rural Health Care District board, are planning an open house on April 25th, at Rendezvous Pointe, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Food will be served at this meeting, with Sue Eversull donating her own time to prepare the food.
