I-80 Road Construction
Week of April 2

(Rock Springs) - The recent springtime snow brought some much needed moisture to the area, but also brought delays for contractors working on the Interstate 80 Rock Springs Marginal Pilot Butte/Dewar Drive project.
Brad Benson, project supervisor for the prime contractor, Upper Plains Contracting, Inc., said after consulting several weather forecasters, work scheduled for the week of April 2 has been pushed back a week because of the weather, since snow and rain are expected to linger in the area through the weekend.
Beginning the week of April 9 traffic barriers and temporary traffic protection devices will be installed. Between the Pilot Butte construction area and the Dewar Drive exit, the passing lanes of both the westbound and eastbound lanes of the interstate will be closed to traffic at intermittent locations during daylight hours, so the contractor can continue working on the crossover sections. The driving lanes on both the westbound and eastbound lanes will remain open, but motorists can expect reduced speed limits and delays throughout the project.
The Wyoming Department of Transportation reminds motorist to slow down and be alert while driving through the construction area.
