Pinedale's Arbor Day is May 17th
Arbor Day to be Celebrated with a 'Patriot Tree'

This year, in addition to donated and memorial trees, Pinedale will symbolically thank those serving in the armed services, past, present and future, with the dedication of a "Patriot Tree." A chokecherry will be planted during Pinedale's Arbor Day celebration, Thursday, May 17th, at 10 a.m. at American Legion Park, just off main street (Pine Street). Chokecherry trees (a Canada Red Flowering Cherry) are a western favorite, appreciated for their berries and the wonderful preserves for which the berries are used.
Representatives from the American Legion and its auxiliary, the VFW and its auxiliary, and all veterans are invited to attend. Those who have served in the armed services, past or present, are most welcome to come and receive our community's thanks.
The public is encouraged and invited to attend the Arbor Day celebration at American Legion Park.
The Town of Pinedale thanks the following for their donated trees to be planted during Arbor Day:
- Clarence and Jean Crater, a tree in memory of their great-grandaughter, Sarah Chaffin.
- Barbara Pfaff, a tree in memory of her parents, Buzz and Doris Burzlander
- The Sublette County Chamber of Commerce
- Mike Muller of Wind River Gardens (formerly Neely's Nursery) Pinedale
Pinedale's third-grade elementary school students will be joining Mayor Stephen Smith, Assistant State District Forester Chris Fallbeck, Pinedale's Tree Board members and others, to plant trees in celebration of Arbor Day. Pinedale is a designated "Tree City."
The town would also like to thank the Sublette County Conservation District for donating seedling trees to the students in celebration of Arbor Day and to Tree Board Member Kathleen Petersen for helping to organize Pinedale's Arbor Day celebration.
