WY SW District Music Festival

The Pinedale High School music department traveled to Lyman last Thursday, Friday and Saturday to participate in the annual Southwest Wyoming District Music Festival. While there, the concert band, concert choir, jazz band, small ensembles and numerous soloists performed for their judges.
The 67-piece concert band earned two (excellent) II ratings from their adjudicators. The jazz band received a I- and a II+ ratings from their judges for an overall Superior rating.
Both bands had a half-hour clinic with adjudicator Dr. Bob Belser, director of the University Bands, working with the concert band and adjudicator Joann Stevens from Rock Springs working with the jazz band. The Pinedale Choir did very well with the 42 voice Concert Choir receiving two II (excellent) ratings from their judges Judges for the concert choir were Mr. Broomhead from BYU and Robert Hussa from Central Wyoming College. Their clinic was headed up by Mr. Hussa.
Pinedale vocal had four soloists and two ensembles performing on Saturday. The duet of Kathryn Konicek and Morgan Holz received a I (superior) rating and the trio of Jaimlyn Wilcock, Travis Hines and Julianne Goltz received a II (excellent) rating. The vocal solos of Sadie Nelson, Morgan Holz, Kathryn Konicek and Jaimlyn Wilcock received II (excellent) ratings. The vocal accompanists were Coralee Petersen and Jaclyn Nelson. The Pinedale vocal department is under the direction of Gena Anderson and the Pinedale instrumental department is under the direction of R. Craig Sheppard.
Come out and listen to these young musicians perform in their last concerts of the year Monday May 7th (Spring All Bands Concert). This concert starts at 7:00PM in the Pinedale Auditorium. There will be no admission charged.
Both the HS concert choir and HS concert band will be performing at graduation Friday May 25th.
