(Big Piney) – Sunday, June 24, 2007, 12:30 PM Update: Interagency firefighters are still battling two fires on the Big Piney District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest. The Horse Creek fire which started on Thursday, June 21st is 800-acres and is burning 8-miles west of Merna, Wyoming. The Nylander fire which was ignited on Saturday, June 23rd about 25 miles west of Daniel, Wyoming is 4-acres in size. There are 8 smokejumpers working on the Nylander fire and 200 fire personnel working on the Horse Creek fire.

The cause of both fires is unknown and there are no trail or road closures associated with these fires. There are no structures threatened by either fire. The fire danger for the Bridger-Teton is listed as High. For more information, visit www.tetonfires.com or call 307-739-5080.
