Barrasso Votes No on Immigration Bill

(Washington D.C.) - U.S. Senator John Barrasso, R-Wyo., today joined a majority of senators in rejecting the Senate immigration reform bill, saying the bill “would have granted amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants.” Fifty-three senators voted against moving forward with the bill.
“We owe it to Americans and everyone who goes through the legal citizenship process to secure our borders and put our citizens first,” Barrasso said. “I am proud to have voted against this bill. Our first priority should be securing America’s borders and not providing a path to citizenship for those who have broken the law by coming here illegally.”
Supporters of the immigration bill failed to garner even a simple majority (53-46), signaling the end of this legislation in the 110th Congress.
