Fox Kits

These three fox pups, also known as "kits", were photographed last weekend at their den east of Marbleton. They are nearly full grown.

Fox litters can have up to 10 kits. They open their eyes after about nine days and are weaned when they are one month old. Both the male and female adult parents help rear the young and bring food to the kits while they are growing. The kits disperse from their undergound burrow home by the time they are three to four months old.
