As the famous elk antler arches on the Jackson town square are being rebuilt, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department has made a contribution to see that it's done in a timely manner. The Game and Fish recently donated over 250 pounds of elk antlers to the City of Jackson for the cause. The heap of antlers, which were gathered from the various state-operated elk feedgrounds, are valued at approximately $3,000.00.

Each year, elk feeders for the Game and Fish Department collect elk antlers that are shed on the Department's 22 elk feedgrounds. Normally, the proceeds from the antlers go towards the Department's contribution to the elk feeding at the National Elk Refuge. Last year, a similar donation of antlers was made to rebuilding the elk antler arch in downtown Afton.

"These antler arches are a long-standing tradition and symbolize the importance of elk to these communities," said Regional Wildlife Supervisor, Bernie Holz. "We're glad we could contribute to this good cause."
