3:00 PM Update, Thursday, July 21: A wildfire is currently burning on the Bridger-Teton National Forest west of Daniel in the Horse Creek drainage of the Wyoming Range.
According to the Pinedale Ranger District, they received the first report of the blaze around 2:45 PM on Thursday afternoon. Based on reports from the helicopter scoping, the fire is approximately 30 to 40 acres in size and putting out a large column of smoke. The fire is approximately 4 miles west of the Sherman Guard Station. The Forest Service has one helicopter and 2 engines currently responding to the scene. More resources will be requested as needed.
The Forest Service requests that people stay away from the area while emergency crews are responding to this wildfire. We will post updates as they come available. Also, tune into KPIN 101.1 FM Pinedale News Radio for more updates.
